Firearms Licensing
Please be advised that The Burlington Police Department has resumed the processing of all firearms licenses.
To apply for a Firearms Identification Card or License to Carry Firearms, you must contact Sergeant Tim Kirchner at 781-505-4966 to schedule an appointment.
Please Note: If there are any issues/questions about this process you will be contacted immediately for clarification or documentation by Sergeant Kirchner. Calling other agencies involved in this process will not expedite the process, and all contacts to them will be forwarded to Burlington Police Department.
New Licenses
For new licenses, please mail in or drop off your signed application with a copy of your Basic Firearms Safety Course certificate and a receipt from the Burlington Town Hall Tax office for the licensing fee of $100. You will receive a telephone call to confirm an appointment for fingerprinting.

License to Carry Firearms (LTC)
If this is the first time you are applying for a License to Carry Firearms (LTC) you will need to bring with you to the appointment:
- Your driver's license.
- A receipt from the Burlington Town Hall Tax office showing you paid the $100 application fee in cash or check (made payable to The Town of Burlington)
- A Copy of your Massachusetts approved firearms-training course certificate.
- A completed application for an LTC.
Firearms Identification Card (FID)
If this is the first time you are applying for a Firearms Identification Card (FID), you will need to bring with you to the appointment:
- Your driver's license.
- A receipt from the Burlington Town Hall Tax office showing you paid the $100 application fee in cash or check (made payable to The Town of Burlington). FID under 18 years old is $25 and requires a certificate of permission from a parent or guardian.
- A Copy of your Massachusetts approved firearms-training course certificate.
- A completed application for an FID.
Renewals
For LTC renewals, please mail in or drop off your signed renewal application with a receipt from the Burlington Town Hall Tax Office in the amount of $100. All fees are waived for renewal applicants 70 years of age or older.
